Join OVLC's Native Plant Specialist, Sophie McLean, and Restoration Field Manager, Martin Schenker, for a native plant seeding and planting workshop to kick off OVLC's November Native Plant Month. Learn how to plant for success. Sophie and Martin will teach when and how to plant and seed to get the best results and healthiest growth with native plants. The workshop will take place outside and will include planting and seeding practice in a native plant garden.
Native plants follow a different calendar than other garden varieties. Though winter is typically a time of dormancy and rest for plants, Ojai's native species begin their growing season during the late fall and early winter. With ample rain and cool tempuratures, our native plants thrive. By planting and seeding just before the first rains, you can ensure that your young native plants will have the best chance to flourish.
In this workshop, Sophie and Martin will teach planting and seeding techniques, and you will have the opportunity to put your new skills into practice in a native garden at the Ventura River Steelhead Preserve.
All items are non-refundable, all sales are final. This event will proceed rain or shine.
All proceeds from this event support OVLC's Rewild Ojai program.
