Join Linda Wilkin, OVLC Preserve Manager, for a Leave No Trace training on Sunday, February 23rd. During this all day training, you will learn about ethical and sustainable recreation in wilderness areas. Upon completing this Leave No Trace workshop, each participant will receive a Certificate of Completion and be equipped to:
- Understand and practice minimum impact techniques when recreating outdoors.
- Discuss outdoor ethics with others and explore their own personal outdoor ethic.
- Understand and convey the purpose of Leave No Trace.
- Recite and explain the Seven Principles of Leave No Trace.
The first half of the day will be presentation and discussion-based and take place at the OVLC Office. Then, we'll head out to one of our preserves to put theory into practice!
This training will involve a moderate hike. You will be spending a half day on the preserve, so please come prepared with your own lunch, snacks, water, and appropriate gear (hiking shoes, sun protection, etc.), which are required to participate.
